Give Youth Real Ownership

True youth engagement isn’t just about inviting young people to events or asking for feedback.

Empowering Youth Through Leadership and Ownership

The next phase of youth engagement cannot simply be about creating more platforms. There are already plenty of them. What we need is ownership. Young people should not only be invited to attend conversations. They should be trusted to shape them. They should not only be asked for feedback after decisions are made. They should be involved while those decisions are being formed. They should not only be celebrated when they succeed. They should be given room to experiment, fail, learn and try again.True ownership begins when young people are given the freedom to turn their ideas into action. By trusting them with real responsibilities, resources, and decision-making power, we create an environment where confidence grows naturally. When youth feel that their contributions genuinely matter, they become more invested, more creative, and more willing to take initiative. This is how participation evolves into leadership—and ideas become meaningful change.
